Welcome to the Centre for Field Learning!
Centre for Field Learning is based on the conviction that a deep and thorough understanding of development processes and policies and its analysis can happen only by visiting the field. We undertake research on various topics that concern human welfare including health, environment, food and water security, income and livelihood. We also actively encourage other researchers in undertaking such research by guiding them or by enabling presentation of their research in our conferences.
An additional goal of the Centre is to study in detail unique efforts of the individuals and organizations to address a social issue at the field level. And in this way, applaud the change makers.
Our publications show a detailed academic analysis of the exciting innovations highlighted in the slides above. The Centre also comes out with research papers dealing with contemporary issues, like onion price spikes, comparison of afforestation methods, and such.
To encourage the researchers who undertake field based research, the Centre organizes Multidisciplinary Conferences. An eBook based on the conference held in June 2024 came out in just a month and already has hundreds of reads on researchgate.
Not everyone wants to read long academic articles. For such friends, we have made short videos.
At the Centre, we don't just talk about the field, we actually go down to the field to leave behind a lasting impact. The Founding Director of the Centre, Prof Alka Parikh, has been funding the planting of trees and forests in different places of Gujarat. The details are given under Events.
We invite researchers from universities, organizations or freelancers to partner with us for carrying out such studies and for organizing seminars/conferences. Universities from outside India can also partner with us for organizing field trips for their students. The only condition for partnering with us is to have a strong desire to explore.
